Marinated Lamb Shawarma


Ingredients:


For the Meat:


1 lb lamb or beef (shoulder or sirloin), cubed


1/4 cup olive oil


2 cloves garlic, minced


1 tsp smoked paprika


1 tsp ground cumin


1/2 tsp turmeric


1/2 tsp salt


1/4 tsp black pepper


For Assembly:


4 large pita breads or flatbreads


1/2 cup prepared hummus


Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped (for garnish)


For the Drizzle Sauce (Tzatziki or Tahini style):


1/4 cup plain yogurt (or tahini paste)


1 tbsp lemon juice


Pinch of salt


Step-by-Step Instructions:


Marinate the Meat: In a bowl, toss the cubed meat with olive oil, garlic, paprika, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.


Make the Drizzle: Whisk together the yogurt/tahini, lemon juice, and salt until smooth. Adjust consistency with a teaspoon of water if needed.


Cook the Meat: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated meat and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.


Assemble: Lightly warm the flatbreads. Spread a layer of hummus on each flatbread. Top generously with the cooked marinated meat.


Garnish: Drizzle the sauce over the meat (replicating the photo's look) and sprinkle with fresh cilantro or parsley. Fold or roll the flatbread and serve hot.
